Every one of our tutors undergo a two step screening process that evaluates their academic credentials, teaching experience, and tutoring capabilities. We recognize that every student is different, and every tutor is different as well. We strive to pair tutors and students together by academic need and personal compatibility.
Estelle Ndukwe, Tutor
Estelle Ndukwe is a rising fourth year at the University of Chicago. She has been a tutor for three years now, and has had some really great experiences at Midway Tutors. A big theme we’ve seen throughout Estelle’s life is growth; whether that be through teaching, doing research, or on her downtime with friends. For two years now, she has been doing research on drug efficacy in women expressing resistance to prevailing breast cancer treatments. Her incredible work is expected to be publicized relatively soon. For fun, Estelle will often go down to the Point and swim in the lake (but only on the off chance that it’s warm in Chicago). She loves to run, read books, and try new recipes with friends. According to Estelle, her cooking skills have definitely improved.
"These past few years of being a tutor have been some of the most rewarding ones of my life! Not only have I learned so much about myself in the process, but I've gotten some of the most amazing kids and help them as much as I could to realize their potential. Being a tutor, you really have to relate to your tutees in a way that makes them feel comfortable enough to trust you and it's really a humbling experience when these kids are able to put their trust in me." - Estelle

It was so cool to see her improve so much.”

“I love being a tutor. I think it's so great to get to help the students learn and learn with them. It's awesome being able to give them tips and tricks for the tests. “With Midway I've done everything from tutoring individuals in Algebra 2 and the SAT to teaching a weekly ACT class for 20+ students. I love helping any student in any way I can because to me nothing beats the pride I feel in myself and in them when one of my students remembers the strategies I teach them! I try to make my tutoring sessions fun by making my students laugh as much as possible so they forget how stressed they are. I love working with students, especially those in high school, because I strongly believe that everyone deserves a chance to live up to their amazing potential.” - Sara
